Congratulations, friend, on your decision to grow a Mustache for charity. Philanthropy and facial hair: the twin pillars of Mustaches for Kids! You will be better acquainted with them both shortly.
Shaving Day, the official start of the Growing season, isn’t until Thursday, November 10th. But if you’re feeling the Mustache spirit there’s no reason you can’t get started fund-raising right now! In the past four years, the New York chapter of M4K alone has raised over $356,000 for DonorsChoose.org, a registered 501(c)(3) non-profit organization which fulfills teacher-requested projects to improve underfunded public schools, and that’s who we’re going to raise money for in 2011.
Get started by clicking on the Mustaches for Kids challenge on the DonorsChoose.org website here. You can find instructions for how to set up your Giving Page in the M4K Grower Toolkit (.pdf) as well as some helpful hints on fundraising, and spreading the word about your sweet new Mustache. You’ll be able to either hand-select the specific teacher projects that you want to support, or simply donate to those most in need.
